Nick Berg, a 26-year-old American entrepreneur seeking telecommunications work in Iraq, was captured by Islamist militants sometime between April and early May. Berg's body was found decapitated on 8 May on a Baghdad overpass by a U.S. military patrol. Yesterday, the Islamic terrorist group Muntada al-Ansar posted a video titled, "Abu Musab al-Zarqawi shown slaughtering an American," on their website.

FOX News describes the scene:

In the video, five men wearing headscarves and black ski masks stand over a bound man in an orange jumpsuit similar to prison uniforms.

"My name is Nick Berg. My father's name is Michael. My mother's name is Suzanne," the man, seated in a chair, says. "I have a brother and sister, David and Sara. I live in West Chester, Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia."

The video then cuts to Berg sitting on the floor, his hands tied behind his back, flanked by the masked men, as a statement is read in Arabic. Berg sits still during the statement, facing the camera, occasionally raising his shoulders.

After the statement, the assailant directly behind Berg takes a large knife from under his clothing while another pulls Berg onto his side. The tape shows assailants thrusting the knife through his neck. A scream sounds before the men cut Berg's head off, repeatedly shouting "Allahu Akbar!" - or "God is great."

They then hold the head out before the camera.
During the video, one man, perhaps Osama bin Laden's lieutenant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, states, "... We tell you that the dignity of the Muslim men and women in Abu Ghraib and others is not redeemed except by blood and souls. You will not receive anything from us but coffins after coffins ... slaughtered in this way."

Al Qaeda's attempt to legitimize this act by using the Abu Ghraib scandal as justification is a hollow excuse. Do not be fooled; even if the Abu Ghraib prisoners had been treated to wine and roses, these butchers still would've murdered this man.

I have seen this video, and it reaffirms my personal belief that negotiation and compromise have no place in the Global War on Terror. Burg is at least the 5,303rd American murdered by Islamic terrorists. If you ever had a reason to doubt the war, let his death steel your resolve.

Please tell me, why? Why would anyone WANT to watch that video. It makes me want to vomit just thinking about it. Americans, Iraqis, etc. are mad that our soldiers are making prisoners lie in sexual positions and pointing at their genitalia and laughing, yet they are decapitating an INNOCENT man? I yearn for Heaven...
