31 Flavors of File Sharing
I still use WinMX for file sharing, but I'm less and less satisfied with it. What should I switch to? Does anybody use LimeWire or eDonkey? What about BitTorrent?

Bittorrent is really only for recently-released files. It is very good for those, though, can be very fast.

I use DC++, it's a direct-connect client. It is hub-based, so it takes some getting used to, but is similar to something like Hotline. I really like it.

i'm very timid in using direct connect devices, cuz when u do that, you open your system to the other person, if they know how to access it (i do).

You have to be careful with what you share. Don't ever share direct drive links, only share file folders. And also, my share is on a different physical drive than my OS and all my programs, so I feel pretty safe. I've never gotten a virus or spyware from it.
